Oil and gas industry

Many of JAKO’s measuring instruments in industrial design comply with the international standards such as the ANSI/NACE standard MR0175 or the EN ISO 15 156 already in the standard version. These standards describe the requirements and recommendations for the selection and qualification of metallic materials for the operation in oil and gas extraction facilities as well as inacid gas treatment systems. Suddenly occurring damages to metallic components that were exposed to media containing H2S are to be excluded in the use in oil and natural gas fields. But also the requirements to the suitability to be used in potentially explosive operating conditions often are of high importance.

The term Safety Integrity Level (SIL) is defined as level for functional safety in the process industry by the standard IEC 61508 (General functional safety) and the standard IEC 61511 (Functional safety in the process industry) and on customer request, is determined for selected products on the basis of a FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis) and confirmed with a manufacturer’s declaration by JAKO, e.g.: contact pressure gauges with inductive contacts. The FMEDA is a systematic analysis of the random failure behaviour of the individual measuring device components. To this end, statistical values of the individual components and their functional connections are jointly assessed. The resulting values are the average probability of failure on demand (PFDa), hardware failure tolerance (HFT) and thesafe failure fraction (SFF). This data is required by plant designers, constructors or operators to identify the functional safety risk of an entire plant.

In this segment, JAKO supplies high-quality and reliable devices and, with the accredited and internationally recognised JAKO verification and calibration service, ensures long-term stable value and long periods of use in the exacting environment of the oil and gas industry.
